This is my attempt at thirds. I had to keep reminding myself NOT to center the subject.
As you can see The top one shows the image in the center third. It's an OK shot, but it is almost no fun at all trying to shot anything in this weather, so I'm actually shooting out the window from the other Gondula. You should have seen the look on the other passangers faces...priceless. I sure hope spring comes soon. The second mage is of the left third. I actually like the left third better. Which is a real eye opener since I always seem to center my photos.
Here we are again... Top one is OK, but the lighting is a little harsh, but I like the sysmetry.
The second one is nice because I think it shows a little more detail.

I like the bottom photo! The angle is really nice and adds a softer effect. I'm really enjoying what we are learning this week. I have always centered my photos thinking that is the way it's supposed to be done. Now that I know it doesn't have to be that way, I am going to try taking some more creative photos. I'm going out this weekend to see what I can create! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteIn the Gondola photos, the second one definitely works better. Try another with the cables visible. This will help bring the eyes back to the subject. It will also add visual dynamics to the photograph with the angle.
ReplyDeleteIn the second set, the second photo is the better as well. It has more information and more context, so it tells more of a story....
I definitely like the second gondola photo better, too. The gondola is the center of attention, certainly, but because you applied the rule of thirds, there is visual interest in the rest of the scene.
