I took this photo in Waitfield. I'm not 100% sure it qualifies as landscape, but maybe! This was a fun shot to take because I love this barn/farm and have never taking the time to stop and photograph it. I did touch up the color of the sky because I tought it was a little dull. I like the red door and portion of the silo. This is a none working farm...so sad. You can't really see it from this angle but the rear silo is leaning and going to come down fairly soon.

I took this photo at Moss Glen Falls, I'm not sure of the town (maybe Warren). I like how this shot reflects Vermont in the winter, but is simple. Again another fun shot to take. What you don't see in this photo is me straddling the bed. It was an amazing day to be out shooting. I did soften the focus a little because I thought it added a nice touch. I know I centered it, but I liked how the stream guides your eye up into the photo.

This image I shot down at Battery Park in Burlington. I used a sunset filter that I had never tried before. I tried to frame the shot and uses the break water and island as points of intrest. I did take the same shot without the filter but that darn sun was pretty bright today ( I'm not complaining don't get me wrong....I'm glad to feel the sunshine again). The mountain range in the background is NY state. I'm not sure if any of you know Battery park, but I'm standing up on the cement wall near the cannon. Right below me is this awesome skate park and Echo is to my left.

I was driving around looking for a nice view of MT. Mansfield and found these clever little donkeys and could not resist adding them to the landscape. I like they way they pull your eye in and then you see the mountain in the background. It was great getting out in taking imagies of landscapes I have to admit I seem to never take landscape shots. I guess I've always wanted to fill the frame with the subject. This was a wonderful experience and helped me realize that a great landscape shot not only captures the beauty of the surroundings, but it adds much more to the story of the image. While reading this week the author introduced the idea of looking for patterns and telling a story I'm not sure if I did that, but I tried and keep that idea in mind while shooting.

  1. WOW!!! Such great work! I love all of your photos! I really like the barn shot and how you can see the rolling hills on the side. Also, the one of Mt. Mansfield with the donkeys is awesome! I like that you included a subject with the landscape. Well done!

  2. Love all your landscape photos. Not sure that I would have even seen the donkey's in the first photo if you hadn't pointed them out.

  3. With such great photos in the books, it is now time for you to go and do that 'other' homework waiting for you...Ha, ha!

Really nice work on that barn photo, the sky is touched up wonderfully!

  4. These photographs are excellent. What a little saturation can do for a photo.

All of these photographs present us with what really makes a successful photo.

Something in the foreground to ground the viewer or frame the shot. A good balance between elements of texture, sky to ground, lines and shapes.

    Very well done.

You too are well on the way to being a really good photographer.
